| Getting Married in the Catholic Church |
Congratulations!
The
Church welcomes you and is delighted you
are
considering celebrating this time in your
life
in the presence of God.
You
should be thinking of your first steps:
- Call
your parish to begin the process. Our churches have
commitments and schedules and need some advance
notice to accommodate you. Parish Links
- Ask
your parish for information concerning Pre-Cana/Marriage
Prep/Engaged Encounter and register as soon as
possible. All the recent information about marriages
in our country tells us that the couple who prepares
well for the marriage (not simply the wedding
ceremony) has the greatest potential for success.
Also, this preparation is most effective when
the engaged couple can participate fully and
have time to process the information gathered
and the skills learned. As you prepare for your
wedding, the Church asks you take the time to prepare for your marriage. Please
register as soon as possible, as sessions fill as much as three months
before the date.

Schedule
- You
will be asked to take a FOCCUS inventory
and have the results
processed by a member of your parish team. The
150+ questions and your responses to them will
help you as a couple to get an objective look
at your strengths and at those areas where you
might need to do some work. Again, this is a
tool designed to assist you in moving into Marriage
as prepared as possible.
- Now
you are ready to work with a member of the parish staff and/or
the musicians to prepare the ceremony
