Download PDF of Complete Final Report In early 1999, Bishop Clark appointed a team to review diocesan policy regarding the pastoral care of the sick in health care institutions in Monroe County. Ms. Betty Mullin, CEO of St. Ann's Community, accepted Bishop Clark's invitation to chair this team. The team members represent health care institutions in Monroe County, parishes, and pastoral care ministers as well as diocesan administrators concerned with this issue. Charge to the Team Make recommendations to Bishop Clark with regard to diocesan policy on the pastoral care of Catholic in Monroe County hospitals, long term care facilities, and in-patient treatment centers for the next five years. These recommendations should take into account the number of priests likely to be available for service in these health care settings.The team is using a process of clarifying the current situation, identifying best practices, projecting the future situation, and making recommendations. Survey Results The team has conducted surveys of all Monroe County parishes, hospitals, nursing homes, and individual health care ministers. Issues Based on these survey results and the observations of the team members, seven major issues have been identified. The team is currently in the process of gathering information on "best practices" which address these issues. Final Report On March 20, the team issued its final report to Bishop Clark.
