In 1997, the Department of Evangelization and Catechesis prepared a series of five brochures geared toward helping parents help their children understand the faith questions and issues surrounding HIV/AIDS. They are directly based on the NYS Catholic Bishops’ document, "HIV/AIDS Education: A Catholic Framework of Understanding." The department runs periodic training sessions for parish catechetical leaders, youth ministers and Catholic school staff covering how to effectively use these with their parish families.
