Parish Adult Faith Formation Team Training

A training process has been developed in order to help parishes, regions, clusters, and planning groups to train volunteers who have the specific charge of planning and implementing adult faith formation programs and processes at the local level. Some examples are:

  • Young adult ministry committees

  • Baptismal preparation teams

  • Marriage preparation teams

  • RCIA teams

  • Bible study group leaders

  • Small faith-sharing group facilitators

  • Adult education committee members

  • Continuing education committees

A workshop will be tailored to a locale's specific needs.

The team training workshop can take several forms:

  • Two-hour evening presentation

  • A full morning or day-long workshop

  • Focus on just one specific aspect of adult faith formation

  • Offer a variety of general topics/themes

Workshops may cover such aspects of adult faith formation as:

  • Who are the adult Catholics of today

  • The characteristics of youth adults/mature adults

  • Adult learning styles

  • Effective methods for conveying adult faith

  • Necessary theology and background

  • The roles of a committee

  • The role of a catechist

  • Important issues/topics for today's adult
