NCYC Update: Read about it in the Columbus Dispatch
Youth
Ministry in the Diocese of Rochester embraces a comprehensive and
multifaceted approach that utilizes the gifts of the entire faith
community to minister to, with, by and for young people in grades
6-12. Our goals reflect those outlined by the U.S. Bishops in the
1997 document, Renewing the Vision:
- To
empower young people to live as disciples of Jesus Christ in
the world today.
- To
draw young people to responsible participation in the life, mission,
and work of the Catholic faith community.
- To
foster the total personal and spiritual growth of each young
person.
In
order to achieve these goals, all leaders in youth and campus ministries
are urged to use a team approach that involves both youth and adults
in the development, implementation and leadership of programs and
events that reach out to young people. The designated leader, as
well as those who support and assist the leader, should be provided
appropriate and ongoing training in leadership skills and supervision
and safety issues. The
programs, events, in services and gatherings that are listed in
this website are all designed to support and enhance this comprehensive
vision of youth ministry within the Diocese of Rochester as well
as offer young people a sense of the larger Church of which they
are an integral part. |
