It was a beautiful morning for the 13th Annual Run for the Young. 409 runners participated in the flat and fast 5k course.

The Run for the Young is an annual 5K (3.1 mile) road race and 1 mile fun run/walk open to any age person. The race is sponsored by the Catholic Diocese of Rochester to raise money for the Diocesan Youth Scholarship Fund. Each year, over $10,000 is raised to help youth attend Diocesan and national conferences, retreats and leadership training programs. Begun in 1997, it begins and ends at St. Lawrence in Greece (1000 N. Greece Rd) on the second Saturday of May with a 9:30AM start. Over 80 age group awards and thousands of dollars in door prizes, and prize money are given away. In addition, every participant receives a race T-shirt and access to the post-race party. Run applications are available here in March of each year.
