| Diocesan Youth Committee |
The Diocesan Youth Committee is made up of 30 youth and adults representing six regions that make up the Diocese of Rochester.
- Monroe County East (East of the Genesee River)
- Monroe County West (West of the Genesee River)
- Monroe County Urban (the City of Rochester)
- Genesee Valley (Livingston, and parts of Steuben Counties)
- Finger Lakes (Ontario, Yates, Wayne, Seneca and Cayuga Counties)
- Southern Tier (Steuben, Schuyler, Chemung, Tioga and Tompkins Counties
The mission of the DYC is to assist in the creation, development, implementation and evaluation of Diocesan events offered for youth. Specifically these events include the:
- Diocesan Youth Convention held in August for 9-12 graders
- Junior High Youth Rally held in the spring for 6-8 graders
- Run for the Young 5K Road Race & 1 Mile Fun Run - an open race for all people and ages held in the spring
- Hands of Christ Recognition - an annual senior recognition program which takes place in October
Diocesan Youth Committee nominations are sought every spring to fill up 2 spaces per region. Youth must be in 9th or 10th grade when nominated and be able to serve for two years. Newly selected DYC members are commissioned at each Hands of Christ ceremony.
