The Common Good:
We are One in the Body of Christ
The Gospel and Catholic Social Teaching remind us that we are responsible for creating a more just world. Do our decisions reflect our nature and our oneness in Christ? We invite all Catholics to reflect on this “big picture” issue and to explore how we can act in ways that strengthen the common good. while we enhance our individual well-being at the same time. The following materials are designed to be used for small group discussions. Each parish in the diocese has received a 32 minute DVD which guides participants through a 100 minute discussion format. The program is also available below divided into five YouTube videos or click HERE to go to the YouTube site. The discussion packet includes:
- An opening and closing prayer (2 pp.)
- Facilitators’ Guidelines (2 pp.)
- Participants’ Worksheets (2 pp.)
- Action Steps and Resources for participants (1 page)
- An evaluation form (1 page)
An additional resource, The Common Good: We are One in the Body of Christ, focuses on the issue of growing inequality in relation to the common good. This summary document could be used as a bulletin insert or discussion handout.
