JOB PURPOSE: The Diocese of Rochester Department of Catholic Schools seeks a principal committed to Catholic Education who can effectively lead St. Pius X School in fulfillment of our mission to preserve and teach the doctrines of the Catholic faith; provide a learning community which fosters academic excellence, and nurture young people to become service-oriented, responsible, and self-disciplined individuals.  The principal serves as the instructional leader of the school and is responsible for all aspects of school operations. Qualified candidates must have an understanding of the New York State Learning Standards and possess or be working towards certification as a School Building Leader and/or School District Leader.

*CUSTODIAN – IMMACULATE CONCEPTION SCHOOL – ITHACA, NY - POSITION PURPOSE: To make sure that all types of buildings are neat, clean, free from clutter and safe.  Daily this may involve picking up trash, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, or using industrial cleaning equipment to clean floors, cleaning and stocking bathrooms, making sure buildings are secure, cleaning windows, and fixing minor building maintenance and repairs.  Additional responsibilities may include keep lawns or sidewalks clean, mowing grass, tending to ornamental gardens, raking leaves, shoveling snow and serving on Immaculate Conception School's Building and Grounds committee.  LIST OF POSSIBLE JOB DUTIES:  1. Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming them; 2. Gather and empty trash; 3. Service, clean, and supply restrooms; 4.  Clean and polish furniture and fixtures; 5.  Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors, using soapy water or other cleaners, sponges, and squeegees; 6. Dust furniture, walls, machines, and equipment; 7.        Make adjustments and minor repairs to heating, cooling, ventilating, plumbing, and electrical systems; 8. Mix water and detergents or acids in containers to prepare cleaning solutions, according to specifications; 9. Steam-clean or shampoo carpets; 10. Strip, seal, finish, and polish floors; 11. Clean and restore building interiors damaged by fire, smoke, or water, using commercial cleaning equipment; 12. Clean chimneys, flues, and connecting pipes, using power and hand tools; 13. Clean laboratory equipment, such as glassware and metal instruments, using solvents, brushes, rags, and power cleaning equipment; 14. Drive vehicles required to perform or travel to cleaning work, including vans, industrial trucks, or industrial vacuum cleaners. 15. Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment, in order to prevent damage to floors and fixtures; 16. Monitor building security and safety by performing such tasks as locking doors after operating hours and checking electrical appliance use to ensure that hazards are not created; 17. Move heavy furniture, equipment, and supplies, either manually or by using hand trucks; 18. Mow and trim lawns and shrubbery, using mowers and hand and power trimmers, and clear debris from grounds; 19. Notify managers concerning the need for major repairs or additions to building operating systems. 20. Remove snow from sidewalks, driveways, and parking areas, using snowplows, snow blowers, and snow shovels, and spread snow melting chemicals; 21. Requisition supplies and equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance duties. 22. Set up, arrange, and remove decorations, tables, chairs, ladders, stages, and scaffolding to prepare facilities for events such as banquets and meetings; 23. Spray insecticides and fumigants to prevent insect and rodent infestation.  NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS: Must be able to work independently; Be able to work a physically demanding job under adverse weather conditions; Any combination of training, education and or experience equivalent to graduation from high school or GED; (1-3) year experience; Ability to lift 50 pounds; Able to honor and maintain confidentiality; Ability to provide own transportation for job-related responsibilities; Successfully completing Background Check and Safe and Sacred Training.

PT After School Care Assistant - 2:oo pm - 6:00 pm - Monday - Friday (20 hours per week). 

 

Overview:  The person selected for this positin will be under the direct supervision of the After School Care Director.

 

Duties include: 1. Direct supervision of enrolled children grades K-6;  2. Assisting the director to provide a safe and nurturing environment;  3.  Support positive communication and interaction with parents on a dialy, weekly, basis; and 4.  Clean and prepare classroom materials as needed on a regular basis.

 

Ideal Candidate will be able to:  1.  Closely supervise students in various venues in the building (classrooms, quiet rooms, outside);  2.  Have prior experience facilitating direct care of children;  3.  Work well in a fast-paced environment with many students, staff and parents; and 4.  Be available mid-day into early evening Monday-Friday as designated above.
