Statement on the passing of Bishop Moynihan

Diocese of Rochester statement on the passing of Bishop James M. Moynihan

Bishop of Rochester Salvatore R. Matano, Bishop Emeritus Matthew H. Clark and the Priests, Deacons, Religious and Faithful of the Diocese of Rochester mourn the passing today of The Most Reverend James M. Moynihan, Bishop Emeritus of Syracuse and a priest of the Diocese of Rochester for nearly 40 years before his ordination as Bishop of Syracuse in 1995. As a native of the Diocese of Rochester, he faithfully served the People of God as priest, pastor and in many leadership roles. We thank God for his service to the Church. He was a true shepherd and an example of Christian discipleship for us all. Eternal rest grant unto him O Lord and may perpetual light shine upon him.
