FR. JIM FENNESSY, PAROCHIAL VICAR, ROMAN CATHOLIC COMMUNITY OF GENEVA
Thoughts on the Feast of Pentecost

On the Feast of Pentecost we celebrate the coming of the Holy Spirit. When I was discerning about the priesthood people told me to pray to the Holy Spirit for guidance. I did this but kind of figured it was my choice. Then I went on a retreat and learned what it meant to really listen to the Spirit....

Thoughts on the 7th Sunday of Easter

In this Sunday's Gospel Jesus prays for his disciples and for us--"that they may all be one." The unity of which Jesus peaks is not a sameness or lack of diversity. There is wonder and beauty in diversity. Through Jesus we are joined together in love.

Reflections on the Feast of the Ascensionof the Lord

The disciples wondered why the Lord had to leave them and ascend to heaven. They weren't sure they were ready for the job Jesus left them: to "be my witnesses to the ends of the earth." Jesus promised the disciples the same thing he promises us. We have the indwelling of the Spirit and we have one another.

Thoughts on the 6th Sunday of Easter

As we come to the 6th Sunday in Easter we find the readings moving us from the Easter event toward Pentecost. We hear the readings speaking to us about how we are live out the spirit and meaning of Easter in our day-to-day lives. The Gospel reading is taken from Jesus' discourse at the Last Supper. He gives a design for the Church about how we are to live and intermingle with one another.

DEACON CLAUDE LESTER, DIRECTOR OF FAITH FORMATION, ST. MARY'S CHURCH, CANANDAIGUA
Thoughts on the 5th Sunday of Easter

On this fifth Sunday of the Easter season, as we continue our proclamation of the new Christian communties as described in the Acts of the Apostles. These communites are founded on the preaching of the apostles and are continually being encouraged by them. They are communites of faith and prayer, helped by people such as the elders mentioned in today's reading. The life of these communities is marked by love, joy and the attraction of new members. This Sunday we celebrate the new commandment, the law of love, that Jesus gives us, his disciples.

SR. KAREN DIETZ, SSJ, PASTORAL ADMINISTRATOR, ST. AGNES CHURCH, AVON
Thoughts on the 4th Sunday of Easter

Today's readings are from the 4th Sunday of Easter. We continue the message of Easter Sunday, that is that Jesus lived, suffered, died and rose from the dead for us. That's the unique understanding or perspective on this relationship with God that Jesus brings to us. The relationship is one that is unconditional. God is always faithful and promises God's fidelity to us. We are called to strenthen our response to God's grace. We need to recognize the unique voice of God stirring in our hearts and lives.

FR. JIM FENNESSY, PAROCHIAL VICAR, ROMAN CATHOLIC COMMUNITY OF GENEVA
Thoughts on the 3rd Sunday of Easter

"If Jesus were to say to us, "Do you love me?", what would we say? Being Christians we would say "yes!" But saying "yes" to the love of Christ is more than just a word. It's a commitment. It leads to action. The early apostles come to know the love of Christ through his resurrection and they could do nothing else but speak of that love to others. By doing so, life was not always easy for them but they could do nothing else. Jesus asks Peter, "Do you love me?", and Peter says "yes" but that "yes" to love comes with a mission. The mission was "feed my sheep..." When we commit to love it's more than just a word. It's who we are. Its' what we do. And that's at the root of evangelization, to take that "yes" to Christ, deepen that love, that commitment within our own hearts. Having done that, that love spills out to the people around us. And as a community, as a group of believers, a people who say "yes" to Christ's love and then go out into the world and serve that world faithfully. It may cause us harm. It may cause us grief. In the end, we can do nothing less. Say "yes" to Christ and commit to that love for the rest of our lives. Happy Easter!

FR. TOM MULL'S PODCAST
Thoughts on the 2nd Sunday of Easter

"The feast of Easter is such an important week that we celebrate not only the one day, the twenty-four hours of Easter Sunday, but throughout the whole octave of Easter. Today is the 8th day of that octave, known as the 2nd Sunday of Easter and also as Divine Mercy Sunday." Fr. Mull reflects on the meaning of the resurrection appearances of Jesus as described in the scripture readings throughout Easter week. The Church invites us to reflect on the resurrection experiences in our daily lives. Where do we see Jesus raised from the dead?
