Position: Monroe Community Hospital – Catholic Chaplain (part time)
Hourly Rate of Pay: $20.00/per hour
Work Hours: 16.5 hours per week plus up to 4 on call shifts
- Generally: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
- On Call shifts Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday
Work in collaboration with Catholic priest-chaplain and Protestant minister-chaplain to provide pastoral care for the residents of this long-term care facility.
Responsibilities:
- Daily monitoring of resident admission and discharge lists
- Meet and assess spiritual needs of newly-admitted residents
- Provide personal visitation and counseling to residents
- Bring Communion to residents as appropriate, especially those unable to attend Thursday Mass.
- Participate in weekly Mass and assist in supervision of volunteer transporters.
- Assist in planning and participate in services for Holy Days, Holy Week, and periodic Ecumenical Services.
- Communicate with and relate to fellow Chaplains, volunteers, resident family members, care staff, and MCH Supervisor Laurie MacFarlane, as appropriate.
Record keeping:
- Daily record all visits to the Pastoral Care Visit logbook.
- Record all pastoral and Communion visits, both staff and volunteer, in the computer Touch Screen program
- Maintain and prepare weekly Mass Attendance lists and Visiting lists
- Fill out and submit time sheets for hours worked
Qualifications:
- computer skills
- pastoral ministerial “people skills.”
- must be able to pass a background check and successfully complete “Safe Environment” training

- Complete MCH on-line mandatory trainings
