All Saints Parish located in Corning, NY is seeking a Full Time Maintenance Supervisor
WAGE RANGE: $21-$25 per hour based on experience.
REPORTS TO: All Saints Parish Business Manager
POSITION PURPOSE: To oversee the effective and efficient operation and maintenance of all building grounds.
Maintenance Supervisor: Responsible for the maintenance, renovation, restoration, and upkeep of the buildings, mechanical and electrical systems, and grounds and conducts preventative maintenance and energy conservation audits and personally performs higher-level maintenance functions. The position supervises one or more employees, volunteers and may engage and supervise outside contractors with the Operations/Business Manager.
LIST OF JOB DUTIES (not all inclusive):
- Collaborates with the pastor and Business/Operations manager or their delegate in developing a comprehensive plan and schedule to address the operational and maintenance needs of the buildings and grounds. Serves as a resource to staff regarding building operations and maintenance.
- Directs the implementation of the annual work plan regarding plan operations and maintenance. This is accomplished by overseeing the implementation of schedules for all maintenance and custodial requirements, by performing required maintenance when needed feasible, and/or by contracting with others to do it. Evaluates the methods and procedures used in performing the maintenance and custodial duties and revise them as necessary.
- Assures the maintenance of all plant systems and equipment. This is accomplished by conducting periodic maintenance checks on the equipment, as well as plumbing, electrical, drainage, time and security systems. Notifies the pastor, operation/finance manager or their delegate if/when current systems need to be replaced.
- Coordinates the asbestos management plan. This is accomplished by developing and implementing a schedule for addressing the asbestos problem of the facilities, consistent with diocesan guidelines.
- Along with the Business Manager, oversee the scheduling of seasonal maintenance needs. This is accomplished by developing a seasonal work plan for lawn and shrub care, roof cleaning, snow removal, and parking lot and walkway maintenance.
- Where appropriate, participates as a member of the Building and Grounds and Cemetery Committees. Provides information and research to the committee as requested and as available.
- Maintains current level of knowledge and skills required to perform the job. This is accomplished by reading, and by attendance at workshops and classes.
- Assures the supervision of maintenance and custodial personnel in the Parish. The Buildings and Grounds Manager accomplishes this task by participating in the recruitment and hiring process, and by training, motivating, supporting, scheduling, and evaluating staff. Recommends termination of staff to the pastor or operations/finance manager when appropriate.
CEMETERY JOB DUTIES (not all inclusive):
- Mowing, trimming, flower removal; cleaning around grave site locations; and assisting with special event set up.
- Grave layout and burial site preparation.
- Setting markers, covering graves boards for safety purposes.
- Meeting with family for location of lots for sale or locating graves.
- Other cemetery duties include, public contact work involving dealing with grieving individuals.
NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS:
- Member of Roman Catholic Parish faith community or function in a manner consistent with the mission of the Catholic Church.
- High School diploma.
- Three years’ buildings and grounds maintenance or industrial maintenance experience.
- Good mechanical aptitude.
- A working knowledge of all phases of building construction.
- A working knowledge of lawn care functions (seeding, fertilizing, mowing, aerating, etc.).
- Ability to diagnose and perform mechanical repairs.
- Ability for work from ladders, adjust to height and close quarters; withstand heat and cold; good eye-hand coordination and flexibility.
- Ble to work independently.
- Be able to work a physically demanding job under adverse weather conditions.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds.
- Able to honor hand maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to provide own transportation for job-related responsibilities.
- On-call availability for emergencies and snow removal.
