Maintenance Worker

Peace of Christ Parish is seeking a full-time Maintenance Worker.

Pay range is between $17 to $21 per hour depending on experience.

POSITION PURPOSE:  The purpose of this position is to provide cleaning and light maintenance for the parish or school buildings and grounds.

LIST OF POSSIBLE JOB DUTIES:

1. Assures the church and other parish or school buildings are maintained in a clean and orderly manner.  Accomplishes this by mopping and vacuuming of floors, cleaning bathrooms and washing windows.
2. Assures the grounds are maintained in a clean and safe manner.  Responsible for mowing, watering, and edging lawns, snow removal with plowing equipment and hand shovels, blowing walkways, weeding, pruning, and raking on a seasonal basis.  Where appropriate, also maintains playground in a safe and clean manner.
3. Performs minor maintenance of the rectory, church, school, and/or other church buildings.  Accomplishes this by doing light carpentry work, painting, and minor repair work on the facilities as needed.
4. Provides other general assistance as needed through setting up the chairs, tables in the facilities as requested, hauling and moving items, and picking up parts to other equipment as requested by staff.
5. Assures the collection and disposal of trash.
6. Completes routine, non-routine, and emergency maintenance and repairs
7. Support facility maintenance manager.
8. Where appropriate, serves as a member of the Safety Committee/Building and Grounds Committee.

NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Successful work experience in minor repair work in carpentry, painting, plumbing, mechanical, and electrical.
2. Successful work experience implementing a comprehensive cleaning plan for a facility, including sweeping, dusting, washing, and waxing.
3. Successful work experience maintaining grounds and parking lots.
4. Ability to provide own transportation for job-related responsibilities.
5. On-call availability for emergencies.

PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

1. Ability to work comfortably at heights such as climbing stairs, ladders, platforms and lifts.
2. Good physical condition: Ability to push, lift, twist, bend, stoop, pull, lift and carry heavy objects and equipment (50+ pounds).
3. Ability to work outside in various temperatures and inclement weather conditions for extended periods of time.
4. Ability to stand on feet for extended periods of time.
