Music Teacher (5 days per week, Monday through Friday)

Position Title: Music Teacher
Location: Saint Louis School, Pittsford, New York
Reports to: Principal

Position Overview

Saint Louis Catholic School is seeking a dynamic and passionate Music Teacher to join our facility. The ideal candidate will be responsible for teaching general music classes, leading the school chorus, and directing school pageants and concerts/performances, and provides various instrument lessons to 3, 4, and 5th. This individual will foster a love for music and the arts and help students develop their musical skills in a nurturing, faith-based environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Teach General Music: Provide engaging and age-appropriate music instruction to students in grades Pre-K through 5th grade.
• Chorus: Lead and direct the school’s chorus, preparing students for performances at school functions, masses, and community events.
• School Plays/Performances: Direct and coordinate school musicals and other performances, including selecting material, organizing rehearsals, and collaborating with staff for productions.
• Various Instrument Lessons: provide music lessons to 3^rd, 4^th and 5^th grade students.
• Curriculum Development: Develop lesson plans that align with both New York State Standards and the school’s mission of promoting Catholic values.
• Student Assessment: Assess and monitor students’ progress, providing feedback to both students and parents.
• Collaboration: Work closely with classroom teachers, administration, and parents to promote student success and participation in school music programs.
• Faith Integration: Incorporate Catholic teachings and values into daily instruction and performances.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Music Education or a related field; Master’s preferred.
• Valid New York State teaching certification in Music.
• Previous experience teaching general music, leading a chorus, and directing school plays or musicals is strongly preferred.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Commitment to the mission of Catholic education.
