Church of the Assumption

Church of the Assumption and Shurh of the Resurrection are seeking a full-time Pastoral Associate.

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

This individual should be a strong collaborator in working with the pastor, staff, and parishioners in implementing the pastoral vision of the parish.  This is accomplished by participating in comprehensive planning, implementation and evaluation of the parish’s goals and objectives, with a particular focus on the Pastoral Associate’s areas of responsibility.

PASTORAL RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  1. Oversees and participates in Pastoral Visits, Communions Services, Visitation of the sick, hospitalized and homebound and Collaboration of Parish activities.
  2. Field Pastoral calls and emails related to Parish Life, canon law, and Theology questions from Parishioners, directing them to the Pastor when necessary.
  3. Assist the Pastor in writing parish communications.
  4. Understand and facilitate the Funeral process, assist and coordinate the parish outreach to individuals who are grieving.
  5. Coordinate, assist and provide training for the various liturgical ministries of the parish
  6. Collaborate with the committee in providing Pre-Cana marriage preparation once a year for engaged couples

OCIA: 

  1. Communicate with all prospective Catholics, answering their questions and connecting them with a Priest or Deacon when needed.
  2. Oversee all registrations to the OCIA class and collect all needed documentation.
  3. Oversee OCIA class schedule and coordinate all OCIA rites with the clergy.

OTHER DUTIES: 

  1. Collaborating with the Ministerial Committees and associated events.
  2. Coordinate Adult Faith Formation opportunities in conjunction with other committees.
  3. Attend all parish ministerial staff meetings.
  4. Attend other parish and council meetings as requested.
  5. Additional responsibilities may be assigned as they arise.

OTHER DUTIES MAY ALSO INCLUDE/SUPPORT

BAPTISMS AND WEDDINGS: 

  1. Schedule Baptisms, coordinate with new baptism families, update baptismal records, and other tasks associated with Baptisms.
  2. Scheduled Weddings, coordinate with new wedding couples, assist priests with wedding files, run wedding rehearsal and serve as the wedding coordinator for wedding days. Update Wedding records and assist with other tasks associated with Weddings and Convalidations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Applicant should be certified/degree in Pastoral Studies, but preferably have a master’s degree in Theology or Pastoral Ministry. Prior experience in a parish setting preferred. Willingness to further his/her education as required.
  2. Active and practicing member of a Roman Catholic Community.
  3. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with persons in institutional and difficult situations.
  4. Must possess organizational and management skills and ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  5. Successful completion of a background check and Safe Environment training.

Pay Range: $19.23 to $24.72 per hour commensurate with experience and education.
