SCHOOL CUSTODIAN – MAINTENANCE

St Ambrose Academy is seeking a school custodian (maintenance).

POSITION PURPOSE:  The purpose of this position is to provide cleaning and light maintenance for the St. Ambrose Academy school building.

LIST OF POSSIBLE JOB DUTIES:

1. Assures the school building is maintained in a clean and orderly manner.  Accomplishes this by mopping and vacuuming floors, cleaning bathrooms, dusting, and washing windows.
2. Provides other general assistance as needed through setting up the chairs, tables in the facilities as requested, hauling and moving items, and picking up equipment as requested by staff.
3. Assures the collection and disposal of trash.
4. Completes routine, non-routine, and emergency maintenance and repairs
5. Support facility maintenance manager.

NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Successful work experience implementing a comprehensive cleaning plan for a facility, including sweeping, dusting, washing, and waxing.
2. Able to operate larger cleaning equipment.
3. Successful work experience maintaining grounds and parking lots.
4. Ability to provide own transportation for job-related responsibilities.
5. On-call availability for emergencies.

PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

1. Ability to work comfortably at heights such as climbing stairs, ladders, platforms and lifts.
2. Good physical condition: Ability to push, lift, twist, bend, stoop, pull, lift and carry heavy objects and equipment (50+ pounds).
3. Ability to work outside in various temperatures and inclement weather conditions for extended periods of time.
4. Ability to stand on feet for extended periods of time.

Rate of pay: $18 – $20 per hour depending on experience.

This is an evening shift position working Monday to Friday. Flexible full or part time available.
