Position Summary
St. Ambrose Academy is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Music and Art Teacher to provide engaging instruction to students in Preschool through Grade 5. The teacher will foster creativity, appreciation for the arts, and musical development while supporting the mission and values of Catholic education. Serving a diverse student body, the teacher will create an inclusive learning environment that celebrates the unique backgrounds, talents, and learning styles of all students. In addition to classroom instruction, the teacher will offer band and individual instrumental lessons for students interested in pursuing music performance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver age-appropriate music and art lessons for students in Preschool through Grade 5.
- Develop engaging learning experiences that promote creativity, artistic expression, and musical appreciation.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of learners from diverse cultural, linguistic, and academic backgrounds.
- Foster a welcoming and inclusive classroom environment where all students feel valued and supported.
- Teach fundamental concepts of visual arts, music theory, rhythm, singing, and performance skills.
- Organize and direct school music programs, performances, concerts, and liturgical celebrations as appropriate.
- Provide beginning band instruction and coordinate instrumental music opportunities for students.
- Offer individual and small-group instrumental lessons to students pursuing music study.
- Assess student progress and maintain accurate records of achievement and participation.
- Integrate Catholic values and teachings into instruction while respecting and supporting the diverse experiences of students and families.
- Collaborate with faculty, administration, and parents to support student growth and development.
- Maintain classroom materials, instruments, and art supplies in a safe and organized manner.
- Participate in faculty meetings, professional development activities, and school events.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Music Education, Art Education, Elementary Education, or a related field.
- Teaching certification preferred.
- Experience teaching music and/or art to elementary-aged students preferred.
- Ability to teach instrumental music and beginning band instruction.
- Experience working with students from diverse backgrounds and learning needs.
- Strong classroom management, communication, and organizational skills.
- Commitment to the mission and values of Catholic education.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, move throughout the classroom, and supervise students during instructional activities.
- Ability to lift and carry classroom materials, instruments, and supplies as needed.
