5th Grade Teacher

St. Joseph School is seeking a passionate and faith-filled full time Fifth Grade Teacher to join our school community for the 2026-27 school year. We are looking for candidates who are energetic and organized, with classroom experience and a passion for education. Candidates should have strong communication skills and be willing and able to collaborate with others as part of a professional learning community.

The Fifth Grade Teacher is responsible for creating a faith-filled, academically rigorous, and nurturing classroom environment that supports the spiritual, intellectual, social, emotional, and physical development of students. The teacher integrates Catholic values and teachings into all aspects of instruction while delivering a comprehensive curriculum aligned with school and diocesan standards.

Position Responsibilities

• Provide engaging instruction aligned with the Diocese of Rochester curriculum in Math, Science, Health, and Religion.
• Create lesson plans, administer assessments, and work with data to monitor student learning.
• Utilize technology effectively to communicate and enhance learning experiences.
• Create and foster a faith-filled classroom environment, in line with the mission of St. Joseph School and the Diocese of Rochester.
• Communicate and collaborate with the school team and parents to support students’ academic, social, and emotional development.
• Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs of students.
• Maintain accurate records of grades, attendance, and student performance.
• Participate in school Masses, prayer services, and other faith-based activities.
• Establish and maintain a positive and respectful classroom environment.
• Participate in faculty meetings, professional development opportunities, and school community events

Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field.
• Valid New York State Teacher certification or be in the process of obtaining certification.
• Master’s degree in Education or related field preferred.
• Previous elementary teaching experience, preferably in a Catholic school setting preferred.
