Work Hours: Monday, Wednesday, Friday  (8 a.m. to 5 p.m.) with flexibility to work on weekends, if needed

Hourly rate of pay: starting at $26.00 to $28.00  per hour

The Rectory Housekeeper/Cook is responsible for maintaining a clean, orderly, welcoming, and hospitable rectory environment while preparing meals and supporting the daily household needs of the pastor, priests, visiting clergy, and authorized guests.

This position ensures that living areas, guest rooms, kitchen, dining spaces, laundry, linens, food supplies, and household items are properly maintained. The role requires discretion, respect for privacy, safe food-handling practices, and an understanding of the Catholic mission and ministry of the parish.

  • Maintain rectory cleanliness and order by cleaning assigned areas, including bedrooms, bathrooms, common areas, kitchen, dining room, offices, hallways, entryways, and guest rooms.
  • Perform routine housekeeping duties, including dusting, vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, sanitizing surfaces, removing trash, and recycling from designated areas.
  • Provide laundry and linen care, including washing, drying, folding, ironing, changing bed linens, and maintaining towels and other household linens.
  • Prepare and possibly serve meals for the pastor, priests, visiting clergy, and authorized guests according to dietary needs, schedules, and household preferences.
  • Plan menus and grocery needs by monitoring food supplies, preparing shopping lists, shopping for groceries or coordinating grocery ordering, if assigned.
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary kitchen by cleaning counters, appliances, dishes, cookware, pantry areas, refrigerator, and dining spaces, while following safe food-handling practices.
  • Support hospitality needs for clergy, parish-related meetings, gatherings, visiting clergy, bishops, or other authorized guests, as assigned.
  • Monitor household supplies, including cleaning products, paper goods, toiletries, food items, linens, and other household necessities, and notify the appropriate parish staff when supplies need to be reordered.
  • Report maintenance concerns and safety issues, including needed repairs, hazards, or unusual conditions, to the pastor, parish manager, or maintenance staff.
  • Respect privacy, confidentiality, and appropriate boundaries when working in private living areas and in connection with parish ministry.
  • Follow parish, diocesan, health, and safety policies, including proper use of cleaning products, kitchen equipment, and safe work practices.
