Priests in Diocese of Rochester meet, praise new bishop

With little warning, Fathers Paul Gitau and William Coffas wound up being part of a historic event Jan. 7.

Both priests are members of the Diocese of Rochester's College of Consultors, a canonically required panel of priests who assist in governance of a diocese. The clergymen arrived at the Pastoral Center for what they'd been told, just two days earlier, would be "a very important meeting," Father Gitau recalled.
